Somerton Business Park, Victoria

The Austrak Business Park is (approx) 320 acres of land located on the corner of the Hume Highway & Somerton Road, and is being developed as a Multi-Modal Freight Terminal (Inland Port) with interface facilities for Road and Rail, rapid access to Tullamarine & Essendon Airports and located less than twenty kilometres from Melbourne CBD. Austrak aims to assemble a cluster of like-minded companies and economic activities to build supply chains, encourage innovation and problem solving and ultimately achieve high volume, centralised and efficient freight movement that will allow benefits and competitive advantage through ‘economies of scale’ to flow back to Business Park tenants. This philosophy has allowed Austrak to successfully attract QUBE, Mars Snackfoods, Linfox / Kraft, Coles Group, Boral Concrete, Labelmakers Group and continuing negotiations with other major tenants for facilities at Austrak Business Park, Somerton.

The Austrak Business Park delivers an impressive internal road network and excellent linkages to the public road and highway network in addition to the intermodal advantages and opportunities related to the rail terminal adjacent.

Austrak Business Park is strategically located on the Hume corridor that is the dominant corridor for all freight transported in the state of Victoria. Hume Hwy is in part a designated BTriple route to service existing industry and will be expanded to service Hume Hwy access to and from the Craigieburn Bypass. Austrak Business Park will benefit from the inclusion of the B-Triple permitted routes that will follow. The Hume Hwy (M31) and the Craigieburn Bypass is the major heavy vehicle feeder from north-eastern Australian capital cities, Murray and Goulburn Valley’s agricultural and manufacturing areas and links into the M80 Ring Road, Princes Hwy (M1/A1), Citylink (M1/M2), Western Highway (A8/M8), Monash Freeway (M1) and East Link (M3). Austrak Business Park is located 2km west of the Craigieburn Bypass and access is gained in both directions via a full diamond interchange at the intersection of Cooper Street (Somerton Road) and the Hume Freeway (M31).
